The Kervancıoğlu family's trade journey dates back to the 1800s. During that period, the transportation of goods by trade caravans across Anatolia laid the foundation of the family's trade culture and entrepreneurial spirit. This period represents the first steps of an accumulation that would later transform into industry.
In the 1850s, the family transitioned to a settled order in the Gaziantep region and brought their commercial activities to a more organized and sustainable structure. This period represents the years when the trading approach that became a family tradition was strengthened and the family took an active role in the economic life of the region. The shift to an established trading order also laid the foundation for the industrial journey that would extend into production activities in the years to come.
In the 1920s, alongside trade, the family also stepped into production and began manufacturing traditional products such as copper kitchenware. These production activities, carried out in small workshops, represent the Kervancıoğlu family’s first production experience on their industrial journey.
In the 1950s, an important step was taken on the industrial side by starting the production of copper sheets used in kitchenware manufacturing. The investments made during this period laid the foundation for the transition from handicraft to industrial production. Production activities began as an enterprise carried out jointly by three brothers, and under the leadership and vision of Nurettin Kervancıoğlu, production activities developed and formed the industrial foundation of the years to come.
In 1975, significant machinery investments were made to increase copper sheet production capacity and improve production processes. Thanks to these investments, the production infrastructure was modernized, efficiency was increased, and production processes were brought to a more systematic structure. These steps significantly increased the company’s production power in the copper industry, giving momentum to the growth process.
Founded in 2000, Okal Metal has been a significant investment that expanded the group's production capacity in the metal industry. The company made a strong entry into the sector, particularly by operating in the field of aluminum billet (billet) production. Aluminum billet production, carried out with modern production infrastructure, forms the basic raw material for aluminum products used in different industrial branches. This investment has increased the production power and market diversity by moving the group's expertise in the metal sector to the aluminum field in addition to copper.
Metal production experience, which has continued since the 1950s, was taken to a more advanced stage with new investments made in 2010. During this period, the production infrastructure was strengthened with modern technologies and production activities were developed for a wider range of product groups in the copper sector. With the investments made, emphasis was placed on the production of copper flat bars, copper profiles and different copper product groups, and it was aimed to develop products especially for the electrical, energy and industrial sectors. Built on the production culture and technical knowledge accumulated over the years, this transformation has strengthened the company's position in the metal industry while also being an important step in opening up to new product categories and new market areas.
